Some ppl thought sell mask could be as profitable as glove, here are my views:
1) Glove is in shortage, the ASP raised in fold within few months; whereas mask is oversupply, you can buy very very cheap mask via shopee, lazada.
2) Malaysian glove contributed 65% of world glove market, we are dominant, we have bargain power; whereas most of the mask manufacturer from china, there are a few thousands manufacturer in China. Any product when you compete directly with china, you lose in term of cost and quantity. Steel is the best example.
3) Our glove manufacturer are expert in doing glove for a few decades, they have accumulated precious experience and not easy to be taken place; whereas the entry level to produce mask is very low, you just need to buy a machine from china, then you can start your production line, so now we have many 'half way' mask producer, they started doing mask during MCO, some of them are ems player, property developer, apparel manufacturer, plastic industry player. Even a housewife can DIY make the cloth mask.
agreed, mask is compulsory in open area. many companies venture into PPE, EG supply Mask and Mask production machine. Malaysia and other countries cases rebounce. stock correction is a must, how can be everyday up. when up no people ask why, when down everyone ask why. big shark created panic selling and laughing to collect cheap tickets.
venture mean still need time to build facility, buy machine. Wearing Mask have been compulsorily in most countries, Mask can contribute profit for company otherwise why so many companies venture into Mask. EG already selling Mask and also selling Mask production machine.
