JOHOR BAHRU (April 13): BHPetrol, a subsidiary of Boustead Holdings Bhd and the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT), plans to build up to 30 new petrol stations in rural areas nationwide.

Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Azizul Azily Ahmad said each station is expected to cost around RM3 million, with the rollout to take place over five years to improve fuel supply coverage across the peninsula.

He said the expansion aims to ensure that subsidised fuel reaches all eligible groups, including defence personnel serving in remote parts of the country.

“As a subsidiary of LTAT, BHPetrol continues to move forward proactively, in line with the government’s commitment to equitable access to subsidised fuel.

“Our efforts to expand the petrol station network, particularly in rural and strategic areas, demonstrate our commitment to reducing reliance on bottled fuel, while improving access to safe, legal and subsidised fuel," he said.

He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the BHPetrol Bandar Seri Alam station here on Sunday. The new station was officiated by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

With the addition of the Bandar Seri Alam outlet, BHPetrol now operates 82 stations in Johor.

“The opening of this latest station is a proud milestone that further strengthens our support network for delivering subsidised fuel to the people,” he added.
