The birth of a new smart city

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 10): The August 11 cover story of City & Country features TAK Group of Companies’ latest development, the estimated RM5 billion Kenyalang Smart City (KSC) in the northern part of Miri, Sarawak.

The project was master planned by chairman Teo Ah Khing and his team, and through the group’s subsidiary Imasa Dinasti Sdn Bhd will develop the project that covers 543 acres almost the same size as Desa Park City. Featuring numerous residential, commercial and data centre components, KSC will be developed in three phases. One of the confirmed components is the Fudan University Joint Research Center for Innovative Drug Development in Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine.

Empire City Damansara Mall in Damansara Perdana is undergoing a revival with a name change to Hextar World at Empire City by the final quarter of the year. The mall is part of the Empire City Damansara mixed-use development. One of the mall’s shareholders, Hextar Group, via Hextar Healthcare Bhd (KL:HEXCARE), believes the location and surrounding infrastructure aligns with the group’s broader vision. 

In our DesignWorks segment, we visit the home of Fei Architect founder Lam Shen Fei, whose unique three-storey home in Damansara Kim, Petaling Jaya, offers some insight into making one’s home sustainable and liveable. The house features plenty of natural light and ventilation for the entire family to enjoy.
