KUALA LUMPUR: NexG Bhd, formerly known as Datasonic Group Bhd, has secured a six-year contract worth RM1.73 billion from the Home Affairs Ministry to supply Malaysia's international passports.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the company said its wholly-owned unit, Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd, received and accepted the letter of award dated Aug 29.

The contract, which runs from June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2032, covers the supply of passports for the Immigration Department.

As part of the agreement, the company is required to furnish a performance bond of RM14.4 million, which will remain valid until May 31, 2033.

It must also implement the government's Professional Training and Education for Growing Entrepreneurs - Ready to Work programme for at least 720 participants, at no cost to the government.

NexG said the contract is expected to contribute positively to the group's earnings and net assets from the financial year ending March 31, 2027 onwards.
