PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Pacific Industries
Bhd (MPI) is acquiring semiconductor assembly and testing services firm, Infineon Technologies (Thailand) Ltd, from Spansion LLC, Spansion Inc and Cypress Semiconductor Corp for RM327.56mil.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the outsourced semiconductor packaging and testing services firm said Infineon Technologies operates a plant located in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
“Infineon Technologies is an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of IFX, a world leader in semiconductor solutions. IFX Group is an existing customer of MPI Group.
“With the proposed acquisition, MPI Group will take over IFX’s backend manufacturing site in Nonthaburi, Thailand. Along with the transition, the acquisition will facilitate further collaboration between IFX Group and MPI Group.”
