8月2日，三大石油公司同一天发布财报，业绩均大超预期。其中，英国石油公司 (NYSE:BP)（BP）第二季度利润高达93亿美元，创下14年以来单季利润新高；美国最大炼油厂马拉松原油（Marathon Petroleum Corp (NYSE:MPC)）二季度则大赚近57亿美元，较去年同期的4.37亿美元，暴增12倍。

此外，被巴菲特狂买的西方石油也在周二盘后公布了第二季度业绩，季度净利润达到37.55亿美元，同比狂飙36倍多。

已经公布财报的能源巨头中，埃克森美孚 (NYSE:XOM)、雪佛龙公司 (NYSE:CVX)、壳牌、道达尔的二季度利润均刷新历史新高，加上英国石油公司，五大能源巨头当季利润总和高达550亿美元（折合人民币3700亿元），几乎是去年同期的两倍。此前，美国总统拜登就直言，石油巨头赚的“比上帝还多”。
